In a heartfelt and inspiring gesture, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) organized a grand Scholarship Awarding Ceremony on 01 November 2025 at the Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka National Guard, to recognize and celebrate the academic excellence of children of SLNG soldiers.
The event was graced by the Major General Janaka Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka National Guard, and the Mrs Kumarie Pallekumbura, President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, as the Chief Guests, whose presence added great prestige and encouragement to the ceremony.
A total of 102 students were felicitated for their outstanding academic achievements — including 87 students who excelled in the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, 13 students who secured 9 A’s at the GCE Ordinary Level Examination, and 2 students who achieved exceptional results as 3 A's at the GCE Advanced Level Examination.
As a special feature, scholarships were awarded to all children belonging to the Sri Lanka National Guard Regiment who had passed the above examinations in year 2025, reflecting the branch’s deep commitment to nurturing educational excellence among the families of SLNG personnel. Each awardee received a cash grant in recognition of their achievement.
In addition, two tablet computers were donated to the GCE A/L achievers to further support their higher studies.
The event was further enriched by the participation of the Centre Commandant, Senior Officers, Officers,large numbers of Seva Vanitha Branch members, parents, and well-wishers, who gathered in large numbers to celebrate this proud moment. The atmosphere was filled with joy and inspiration, as the young scholars were congratulated and encouraged to continue striving for excellence.
Addressing the gathering, the Col of the Regiment commended the students for their remarkable dedication and expressed appreciation to the parents and teachers for their guidance and support. He reiterated the Seva Vanitha Branch’s continuous commitment to uplifting the welfare and education of SLNG families, recognizing that today’s achievers are tomorrow’s leaders.
The ceremony concluded on a high note with a sense of pride and unity, ,leaving both students and parents motivated to pursue even greater accomplishments in the future, while strengthening the bond between the Regiment and its devoted families.
