The Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) bade farewell to Colonel D G W De Silva on 22 December 2025, paying tribute to his exemplary leadership and dedicated service during his tenure.
Upon his arrival at the SLNG Regimental Centre, Colonel De Silva was warmly received by the Deputy Centre Commandant of the SLNG and was thereafter accorded a Guard Turnout by SLNG troops.
The formal proceedings continued with an All Ranks Tea Session, providing an opportunity for Colonel De Silva to interact with officers and soldiers of the regiment. A group photograph was taken to commemorate the occasion.
In his farewell address, Colonel De Silva expressed his sincere gratitude to all members of the SLNG for their unwavering support, commitment, and dedication throughout his period of service.
The event concluded with a farewell dinner held at the Officers’ Mess, graced by the presence of Major General J S B W Pallekumbura RWP RSP NDU psc, Commander Security Forces (East) and Colonel of the Regiment SLNG, along with Mrs Kumarie Pallekumbura, President of the SLNG Seva Vanitha Branch. Senior Members of the SLNG Seva Vanitha Branch, the Centre Commandant, Council Members, Senior Officers, and Officers of the SLNG were also in attendance.
