MAJOR P A A P PONNAMPERUMA ASSUMED DUTIES AS THE COMMANDING OFFICER OF THE 5TH BATTALION SRI LANKA NATIONAL GUARD

Major P A A P Ponnamperuma SLNG assumed duties as the 15th successor in the office of the Commanding Officer of the 5th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard, on 10 March 2026 amidst military formalities. Upon arrival, a Guard Turnout was accorded for the newly appointed Commanding Officer.

The Commanding Officer assumed duties at the auspicious time amidst the blessings of religious observances and rituals. In line with the day’s itinerary, the senior officer planted a sapling within the camp premises to commemorate the occasion of assuming duties. Addressing the troops, the Commanding Officer delivered his maiden speech, emphasizing the importance of executing duties with accountability and dedication in achieving the objectives of the Army.
