pIn response to the challenges faced by families affected by the recent Cyclone ‘Ditwah’, the Seva Vanitha Branch – Sri Lanka National Guard (SVB-SLNG) conducted a special welfare initiative to support the education of the children of Soldiers. As part of this programme, 145 students from Grades 6 to 13 were identified as beneficiaries. A symbolic distribution ceremony for 28 selected children was held on _18 January 2026 at the Auditorium of Regimental Center Sri Lanka National Guard.
The event was held under the patronage of the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Kumarie Pallekumbura. The initiative was organized under the guidance of the Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Janaka Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc with the active contribution of members of the Seva Vanitha Branch and the support of several senior officers of the Regiment.
Each child received a donation parcel containing essential school supplies and a school uniform to assist their educational needs and overall well-being. The event was graced by the Colonel of the Regiment, Executive Committee Members and other members of the SVB-SLNG, the Deputy Centre Commandant, as well as senior and junior staff officers of the Regimental Centre.
The programme concluded with refreshments served to all participants, marking a heartfelt and impactful effort by the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka National Guard in uplifting and supporting the children of War Heroes during a period of hardship.
