DISTRIBUTION OF ESSENTIAL ITEMS TO PREGNANT MOTHERS AND CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES AT THE REGIMENTAL HEADQUARTERS

In response to the impact of the recent Cyclone Ditwah, a welfare programme was conducted at the Regimental Headquarters to provide essential relief items to affected families. The programme took place on 23 December 2025 at the Auditorium of the Heraliyawatta Facility Complex, Regimental Headquarters, under the patronage of Mrs Kumarie Pallekumbura, President of the Regimental Seva Vanitha Branch SLNG (SVB-SLNG), and Major General Janaka Pallekumbura, Colonel of the Regiment.

Gift packs valued at approximately LKR 17,000.00 each were distributed to seven pregnant wives of soldiers belonging to the Regiment. These packs contained essential items to support the mothers and their families during this challenging period.

In addition, 28 civilian employees serving at the Regimental Headquarters received essential item packs valued at approximately LKR 9,000.00 each. These distributions aimed to alleviate the difficulties caused by the cyclone and provide immediate support to the staff.

As part of the initiative, a Nebulizer machine valued at approximately LKR 14,000.00 was presented by the Seva Vanitha Branch - SLNG to Lieutenant Colonel Buddhika Shanthalal for his son, Raniru Raniruka, who is undergoing treatment for leukemia.

The programme was organized under the guidance of the Colonel of the Regiment, with the involvement of Staff Officer 1 (Administration), General Staff Officer 1, and Staff Officer 1 (Logistics). Members of the Executive Committee of the Seva Vanitha Branch, the Deputy Centre Commandant of the Regimental Headquarters, senior and junior Staff Officers, and more than 100 soldiers attended the event. The programme concluded with refreshments served to all participants.
