COMMANDER OF THE ARMY COMMENDS PARA ATHLETES FOR EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCES

Staff Sergeant H.G Palitha Bandara of the Sri Lanka National Guard, distinguished para-athletes showcased exemplary performances at the Kobe 2024 Para Athletics World Championship in Japan. In recognition of his achievements, invited to the Office of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, on 27 May 2024.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment SLNG, impressed by the athletes' accomplishments that brought pride to the country and the Army. In appreciation of his international achievement, presented special mementos and financial incentives to his athletes, extending his best wishes for future endeavours.

Staff Sergeant H.G Palitha Bandara won the Bronze Medal (Distance – 14.27 m) in the Para Shot Put event (F-42) during the Kobe 2024 Para Athletics World Championship held in Japan.
