BRIGADIER L RANCHAGODA KSP ASSUMES OFFICE AS THE CENTRE COMMANDANT OF THE SRI LANKA NATIONAL GUARD

Brigadier L Ranchagoda KSP formally assumed duties as the 12th Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) on Friday, 06 March 2026, at the Regimental Centre of the Sri Lanka National Guard. Upon arrival at the Regimental Centre premises, the newly appointed Centre Commandant was accorded a Guard Turnout at the main entrance and warmly received by the Deputy Centre Commandant, Colonel K S R Ranasinghe.

Subsequently, a ceremonial parade was held at the Heraliyawala Camp in honour of the newly appointed Centre Commandant. Following the parade, he addressed the troops gathered at the venue. As part of the day’s formalities, the Centre Commandant planted a tree sapling within the Heraliyawala Camp premises, symbolizing growth and sustainability.

Thereafter, the new Centre Commandant paid tribute to the fallen war heroes by placing a floral wreath at the War Heroes’ Monument of the Sri Lanka National Guard. Later, amidst religious observances representing all faiths, Brigadier L Ranchagoda KSP placed his signature on an official document to formally mark the takeover of duties as the Centre Commandant.

The formal proceedings concluded with a tea party held in honour of the new Centre Commandant, where he engaged in cordial interactions with the gathering. The event was attended by members of the Regimental Council, Deputy Centre Commandant, Senior Officers, Commanding Officers, members of the Seva Vanitha Branch of SLNG and Regimental Staff.
