One of the primary duties carried out by the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) is the repair, maintenance and innovation of all biomedical equipment used by the Sri Lanka Army. Furthermore, the Biomedical Independent Workshop serves as the main authority responsible for carrying out these tasks.
Further, with the voluntary consent of the below-mentioned NCOs serving under the Biomedical Independent Workshop, biomedical equipment of the Sri Lanka Army was repaired at a cost of Rs. 1.5 million for spare parts, whereas the initial repair estimates quoted by local agents amounted to around Rs. 10 million.
As NCOs of the SLEME, they demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and professional expertise, carrying out the task with self-motivation and dedication to duty. As a result of this commendable action, a substantial amount of public funds was saved for the country during the prevailing economic crisis.
This commendable action was highly appreciated by the DEME and certificates of appreciation were awarded to the above-mentioned NCOs in recognition of their valuable service rendered to the Sri Lanka Army.
