Brigadier DP Hathurusinge USP has assumed duties as the 17th Director in the Directorate of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at the Army Headquarters on 02 August 2021.Brigadier Deepal Hathurusinge was born on 20 August 1967 and completed his school education from Nalanda College, Colombo. He joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 6 October 1988 to the Officer Cadet Intake 32B. After successful completion of the basic military training, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant on 5 October 1990.
During his illustrious military career he has followed many local and foreign courses such as Platoon Commander Course - Maduru Oya,Young Officers Course, India, Workshop Company Commander Course, India, Staff Officer EME Course, India and Officer Advance Mechanical Engineering Course,India.He held many command appointments in unit line such as Platoon Commander, Workshop Officer Commanding, OC admin, Second in Command, Commanding Officer, 1 Bn SLEME, Commanding Officer ,EME Armoured Bn, Commandant EME School , Gannoruwa, Commandant EME Base Workshop, Colombo. Before taking over duties as Director EME he held numerous staff appointments such as SO III - RHQ SLEME, SOII (Tech Cell) at Dte of EME, Regimental Adjutant/SOII at RHQ SLEME, SOI (Log) at RHQ SLEME, Colonel Admin and Quartering at SFHQ (MLT), Colonel Admin and Quartering at 24 Division and Brigadier Admin and Quartering at Security Force Headquarters, Kilinochchi.
