According to the concept of the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and to develop the sports skills of the officers and other ranks, as well as to improve the harmony between units, training school and the base workshops by developing team spirit, an Inter-Battalion rugby tournament was held on the 26th and 27th of March 2024 at Rugby ground RHQ SLSC and under the supervision of RHQ SLEME. Organizing of the event was done in a dignified manner from 1st Battalion SLEME.
Accordingly, 14 teams from EME battalions, training school and workshops participated in the Inter-Battalion Rugby Tournament. The teams of 1 SLEME and 2(V) SLEME managed to qualify for the finals of the tournament by beating the other 12 teams.
There, 1 SLEME won the Cup championship of the tournament with 23 points to 0, and the second place was won by 2(V) SLEME.
Furthermore, among the two teams 6 SLEME and SLEME Base Wksp (Ktb) who competed for the Plate championship of the tournament, SLEME Base Wksp (Ktb) managed to win the Plate championship, and 6 SLEME was Runners up. S/629046 Cpl Randika CAS able to won the trophy for the best player in the Inter-Battalion rugby tournament.
