The 59th Army Inter Regimental Athletics Championship concluded on 31.03.2024 at Sugathadasa International Stadium. There, Corps of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers beat 25 regiments and scored 277 points to win the championship for the tenth time. And the Artillery Regiment won the second place by scoring 251 points.
Accordingly, the following championships and new records were established by the players of SLEME athletics pool in the athletics meet.
Track Events Championship
Field events Championship.
Overall Athletics Championship. Accordingly, new competition records were also established from the following events.
S/M102132 Cfn Puvitharan K managed to set a Sri Lankan record in men's Pole vault event with a performance of 5m17cm.
S/ M101727 L/Cpl Yodha Sinha YCM managed to set a new record in the 100m event with a time of 10.42 seconds.
In the 400x4 relay event, the following relay team managed to establish a new record with a time of 03 minutes and 06.86 seconds.

Further more, Dr. Tina Solomons, conducted a very informative lecture on “ Mindfulness For Well – Being of Military Officers ” the Diners Club, which was held in the evening at Regimental Officers’ mess. Lastly a Book Launch was held for “දුරේක්ෂ - All about Telescopes” authored by 2/Lt K D P Anjana SLEME. Deputy Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army and The Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Major General SPAIMB Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Center Commandant Col A D Sirimannage, Senior Officers and Officers participated to the event.
