WELLNESS VISIT TO ABHIMANSALA II, KAMBURUPITIYA BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE SEVA VANITHA BRANCH SLAGSC

On 30 August 2024, members of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) conducted a visit to appraise the well - being of the inmates of Abhimansala II, Kamburupitiya. The visit was spearheaded by Mrs. Thushari Abeysinghe, President of the Seva Vanitha Branch and Seva Vanitha members accompanied by the Centre Commandant of SLAGSC, Col T G N De Silva along with several Senior Officers and Officers.

The purpose of the visit was to assess the well-being of permanently injured war heroes undergoing rehabilitation at the centre. Mrs. Thushari Abeysinghe was warmly welcomed in accordance with tradition. The atmosphere at the hospital was warm and spirited as she toured the wards, inquiring after everyone’s health and happiness. She engaged in heartfelt conversations, getting acquainted with both patients and staff. The creativity of the patients at the wellness center was on full display, with artwork and coconut shell handicrafts being proudly showcased. These were very much admired by the Seva Vanitha memebrs who also purchased some of the crafts.

Following this, Mrs. Thushari Abeysinghe presented each veteran with a care package tailored specifically to their needs, as a symbol of gratitude. The package inlcuded a number of essential items for each of the thriteen patients; batik shirts and sarongs, bedsheets, fabric softener, aftershave, Vaseline cream, soap, facewash, a toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, balm and a card of Panadol.

The Seva Vanitha Branch of SLAGSC also organized a grand lunch for the veterans, staff, and participating members. The delicious and wholesome meal was greatly appreciated by both the patients and the hospital staff. To conclude the day's activities, Mrs. Thushari Abeysinghe commemorated her visit with a thoughtful entry in the Visitors' Book.

Overall, the wellness visit was a resounding success, thanks to the efforts of the Seva Vanitha Branch of SLAGSC, in collaboration with the Commanding Officer of 3 SLAGSC, Lt Col P A S Cooray USP, and the staff of Abhimansala II, Kamburupitiya.
