A special appreciation event was held on 05th January 2025 at the Regimental Centre of the Gemunu Watch to honour Tharaka Sandarenu Perera, who achieved success at the International Fitness and Bodybuilding Pro League Championship in Bangkok, Thailand, on 30th November 2024.
Tharaka, whose father sacrificed his life during the humanitarian operation in Paranthan, drew strength and courage from his legacy to achieve her dreams.
During the ceremony, Major General W.B.J.K Wimalaratne RWP RSP, Colonel of the Gemunu Watch and Dr (Mrs.) Dilrukshi Wimalaratne, Chairperson of the Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch, presented a memento to her. Subsequently, Tharaka and her mother paid a floral tribute at the regimental monument in memory of her father.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
