The Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) marked a significant milestone in its welfare projects on 26 September 2024 with the completion of a fully-fledged house for Mr. Nandana Amarasinghe, a dedicated civil employee of the SLSC.
The project, initiated under the guidance of the Colonel Commandant, aiming to improve the living conditions of Mr. Amarasinghe, who has rendered nearly three decades of service to the SLSC. Prior to the project, Mr. Amarasinghe and his family were living in a partially constructed house with wooden walls. This initiative has greatly enhanced their quality of life, offering a better future for the couple's two children—one currently in school and the other just one and a half years old.
The newly completed house features a living room, verandah, two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen. The project was completed within six months, utilizing the manpower of the SLSC troops, alongside generous contributions from serving and retired members of the Signal Corps family and other well-wishers.
'>Additionally, furniture and household items were donated by members of the Seva Vanitha Branch - SLSC to further support the family.
The house warming ceremony was graced by the President of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps Seva Vanitha Branch, along with its other members.
The event included the lighting of the traditional oil lamp and religious activities. The family moved into their new home at an auspicious time, receiving blessings from the clergy.
