Mrs. Uthpala Hettiarachchi, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Light Infantry Seva Vanitha Branch (SLLI – SVB) following guidelines given by Major General S.R.K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry initiated a scholarship programme to stimulate, honour and support the children of both deceased and serving war heroes of the SLLI.
It took place at the SLLI Regimental Centre on Saturday (14 October 2023). In recognition of their outstanding performances in the GCE (A/L) examination of 2022, deserving students were also granted scholarships, each valued at Rs. 20,000.00.
Additionally, families consist of four or more children were offered cash donations amounting to Rs. 10,000 for the first month and a further sum of Rs. 20,000 for the subsequent two months. This financial support undoubtedly eased the burdens of these families during challenging times.
During the scholarship programme, an enlightening lecture on "Interpersonal therapy" was delivered by Dr. Rummy Rooban. This insightful session provided valuable knowledge and guidance for fostering healthy relationships and addressing interpersonal issues while enriching the day's programme.
