To coincide with the International Women's Day, the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch (SLSR-SVB) with the objective of educating women troops on different useful projects, organized several lecture sessions at the SLSR Regimental HQ at Ambepussa on Saturday (11 March).
The project got underway under the guidance of Mrs Omila Jayawardena, Chairperson, SLSR SVB and with the blessings of Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Colonel of the Regiment SLSR and Quarter Master General (QMG) at the Army HQ.
Those lectures focused on the role and tasks of the National Craft Council (NCC) and Cultivation of Vegetables and Chillies as domestic crops. Mrs Tharaka Thilini Kulathunga, District Coordinating officer, NCC Colombo and Mrs Kosali Gunasekara, Senior Instructor at Vocational Training Authority (VTA) delivered those educating lectures respectively.
With Chairperson, SLSR-SVB in the Chair, the proceedings got to a start after traditional oil lamp lighting and one-minute silence in memory of fallen War Heroes. 30 spouses from SLSR families attended the event in addition to women soldiers in the SLSR Regimental HQ.
