Armoured Corps SVU Ladies Have Their AGM

The Sri Lanka Armoured Corps - Seva Vanitha Unit (SLAC – SVU) had its 23rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 20 March with the participation of over 70 members.

The AGM at the beginning observed a two-minute silence and commemorated fallen SLAC War Heroes and sang ASVU theme song. Afterwards, new office-bearers for the year 2022 were elected.

Afterwards, Dr N Kumaranayake, Clinical Psychiatrist delivered a lecture on resolution of domestic issues while Major Dilan Dharmaratne conducted a talk on etiquettes. On the same occasion, three High Speed Overlock Sewing Machines were also gifted to spouses of serving soldiers who are involved in sewing.

In parallel with the AGM, a newly established office for the SLAC – SVU was inaugurated by Dr (Mrs) Harshini Bothota, Chairperson of the SLAC – SVU during a simple ceremony amid religious blessings. The renovated office was initiated to expand welfare for retired/ serving soldiers and civil employees and their families. The day’s event concluded with a fellow lunch at the Cavalry Officers’ Mess.
