Sri Lanka Army started Sending Contingent for the Peace Keeping duties in 2004 by sending a Battalion of 750 troops to Haiti. At the same time Sri Lanka was selected to conduct 3rd Multi National platoon training, EX "Sama Gamana". During this period government felt the necessity of operating a Multi National Training School for local and foreign Army troops under the United Nation Peace Keeping Missions. Hence the premises where switch yard stores and office complex and there buildings of Kukuleganga Highdropower Project that located were converted in to a training school on 10th march 2004 to run under the Sri Lanka Army in the Name of IPSOTSL. To remedy the problem of providing accommodations and meals for foreign Army officers and instructors arriving for training programs, kukuleganga Holiday Resort was established by the Sri Lanka Army.
