SLAGSC TEAM CLINCH NETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Major General S Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps graced as the Chief Guest of the Inter Regiment Netball Championship finals and the subsequent awarding ceremony, held at 28 September 2024 at Panagoda.

The Chief Guest was welcomed by Brigadier P M S Karunaratne psc, Chairman Army Netball Committee, and Centre Commandant Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps (SLAWC) along with Brigadier L.K.T. Fernando RSP USP - Director of Sports and few other senior officers.

5 Netball teams representing the Regiments of Sri Lanka Engineer Corps, Sri Lanka Medical Corps, Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps, and Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps vied in the year’s tournament for the championship in close tussles.

Next, the Army chief was invited to witness the final rivalry between SLAGSC and SLAWC 'A' teams in a tight competition. Giving a tough challenge to the rivals, the SLAGSC team finally emerged as Champions in the tournament.

The day's Chief Guest afterwards congratulated all winners and participants before joining the awarding ceremony.

Mrs. Udula Kasturimudali President of SLAWC Seva Vanitha Branch, Senior officers and a gathering of sports fans adhering to health regulations and guidelines witnessed the final events.
