A two day workshop on ‘Methods of solving Legal issues pertaining to women soldiers’ was conducted by Mrs. Medha De Alwis (Attorney At Law, Notary Public), a renowned lawyer and a confidence coach on 27 and 28 February under the guidance of the Colonel Commandant SLAWC, Major General M Mudannayake RSP USP at the Headquarters of 3 (V) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps. The workshop was aimed at presenting an advanced knowledge on Military and Civil laws, legal counseling that are needed by the ladies in caring out their duties in military setup and as well as when leading their family lives. Further, they could enhance their awareness on ‘procedures to receive legal advice, military management, law pertaining to divorce and its limitations, bonds and its implications’ etc. The attended women soldiers were immensely benefited by the workshop and highlighted the importance of conducting these kinds of awareness programmes at other SLAWC Battalions too.
