Team of Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps and the team of 2nd Battalion Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps fought the finals in the Inter Battalion Cricket Tournament - 2024 held at 56 Infantry Division - Kokeliya, Vavuniya.
Major General S Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps graced the final match as the Chief Guest on Wednesday 21 August 2024.
With the supervision of Major MP Sinharage SLAWC - Commanding Officer of the 7th Battalion Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps, Troops of 7 SLAWC organized the event.
The Championship tournament was completed by 5 cricket teams inclusive of RC SLAWC, 1SLAWC, 7SLAWC, 2(V) SLAWC and 3(V) SLAWC respectively.
The grand finale between team of RC SLAWC and team of 2(V) SLAWC got underway amid cheers and applause and the championship was grabbed by the team of RC SLAWC. Woman of the match was grabbed by O/11220 Lt OSN Jayawardane SLAWC who represented the team RC SLAWC.
The chief guest Major General S Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps distributed championship trophy and merit awards. Brig WSV Fernando USP ndc IG Deputy General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division, 56 Infantry Division Senior Officers, Col BATSK Basnayaka RSP USP IG SLA the Deputy Centre Commandant of the SLAWC, Maj Maheshika Sinharage – Commanding Officer of 7SLAWC, Senior Officers, Officers and all Ranks of battalions witnessed the finals.
