Team of 1st battalion Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps and the team of 2nd Battalion Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps fought the finals in the Inter Battalion Netball Championship 2024 held at RC SLAWC – Borella.
Major General S Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps along with Mrs. Udula Kasturimudali President of SLAWC Seva Vanitha Branch graced the final match as the Chief Guest on Thursday 30 May 2024.
With the supervision of Major EMHC De Seram psc SLAWC - Commanding Officer of the 1ST battalion Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps, Troops of 1SLAWC organized the event.
The Championship tournament was completed by 4 netball teams inclusive of 1SLAWC, 7SLAWC, 2(V)SLAWC and 3(V)SLAWC respectively.
The Chief Guest was welcomed by Brigadier J.K.R Jayakody RWP USP the Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps and Maj EMHC De Saram psc SLAWC the Commanding Officer of 1SLAWC before the day’s proceedings got to a start.
The grand finale between team of 1SLAWC and team of 2(v) SLAWC got underway amid cheers and applause and the championship was grabbed by the team of 1SLAWC.
The chief guest distributed championship trophy and merit awards. Mrs. Idunil Jayakody – Vice President of SLAWC SVB, Brigadier Rohan Jayakody the Centre Commandant of the SLAWC, Maj Chamika De Seram – Commanding Officer of 1SLAWC, senior officers, officers and all Ranks of RC SLAWC along with other battalions witnessed the finals.
