SRI LANKA ARMY WOMEN’S CORPS COMMEMORATE ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY

The 25th Anniversary of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps ( SLAWC ) was celebrated on 17 November 2022. The series of ceremonies was organized at the SLAWC Regimenatal HQ premises in Kynsey Road, Borella under the patronage of Chief Field Engineer and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, Major General MK Jayawardane RSP USP ndu.

To mark the commencement of the series of Anniversary celebrations, a programme of ‘Heel Dhaana’ to the Maha Sangha was held in the camp premises following a ‘Bodhi Pooja’ programme with religious observances was organized on the eve of the 15th of November 2022 at Sri Bodhirajaramaya, Colombo 10.

The events on Anniversary Day commenced with Brigadier C Thibbotuge, The Centre Commandant of SLAWC greeting and welcoming the Colonel Commandant of SLAWC.

Chief Field Engineer and the Colonel Commandant of SLAWC was accorded with a formal Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour in accordance with military traditions presented by SLAWC troops. The day’s events also included cutting the Anniversary Cake, Group photograph, 2IC Conference and the All Ranks Lunch at the OR's Mess.

Coinciding with the Anniversary Day, Colonel Commandant of SLAWC, the President of Seva Vanitha Unit - SLAWC, the Centre Commandant of SLAWC, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks went on an excursion to Mirissa. The Anniversary celebrations came to an end with a stringent of fun activities complemented by a served lunch.
