SRI LANKA ARMY WOMENS’ CORPS EMERGED AS THE CHAMPIONS AT THE INTER REGIMENT BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIP.

Finals in the Inter Regiment Womens’ Badminton Championship 2021 underwent on 09th December 2021 at the Panagoda Indoor Stadium, graced by Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda Former Deputy Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army.

The preliminary rounds of the tournament begun on 07th December 2021 and players from Sri Lanka Army Service Corps and Sri Lanka Army Signal Corps were participated for the tournament. Totally 02 Officers and 08 Other Ranks of SLAWC vied for supremacy during the tournament. Sri Lanka Army Service Corps emerged as runners up.

Subsequently, O/8368 Capt LPGDNK Kulthunga and S/R101727 l/Cpl Bandara HRK won the championship of Novices Women Double while S/R100832 Pte Madushani KHM was titled as the winners in over 30 Single Women. Further 0/8368 Capt LPGDNK Kulathunga and S/R100832 pte Madushani KHM won the championship in over 30 Women Single and also SLAWC team emerged as the champions in Open Team category women.

Further, 0/8368 Capt LPGDNK Kulathunga was the runners up in Novices Women Single and runners up in Open Women Single was titled by S/R101200 Pte De Silva KBY. S/R Pte Alvis MAS and S/R100832 Pte Madushani KHM were the runners up in Open Women Double.

The Center Commandant of SLAWC Brig CS Thibbotugae witnessed the event. The Col Comdt and all Ranks of SLAWC congratulate all players who have brought glory to the regiment.
