ORGANIZING A DISTINCTIVE PROGRAMME IN HONOUR OF REGIMENTAL CORPS DAY

Regimental Headquarters of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps along with the community of ‘ SUWADARU ’ which is a concept developed by Mr Prasad Lokubalasuriya, the Old Boys Association of Royal College-Colombo 07, Old Students Union of University of Sri Jayawardanepura, and the members of fund raising committee of ‘ නිරෝගීකම අගයන සකල ශ්‍රිලංකාවාසී/ලෝකවාසී මිතුරුකැල’ , Professor Samanthi Senarathne, Miss Niluka Wickramarachchi Pieris, Miss Ishaka Liyanarachchi and Miss Kaushalya Jayathilake organized an extraordinary programme for children with special needs at the Camila School in Mattegoda on the 14th of November 2022.

The event was organized and headed by the founder of ‘ SUWADARU ’ Campaign Mr Prasad Lokubalasuriya , under the guidance of the Chief Field Engineer and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Major General MK Jayawardane RSP USP ndu. Mrs Shammi Jayawardane, The President of the Seva Vanitha Unit – SLAWC, Brigadier CS Thibbotuge, The Centre Commandant of SLAWC, Mrs Ashika Thibbotuge, The Vice President of Seva Vanitha Unit – SLAWC and Major JRPK Galhena, the Commanding Officer of 1 SLAWC along with Officers and all ranks of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Regiment participated in the event.

The day’s events included providing dry ration packs, medicine, sanitary items for children with special needs and a lunch. These events were followed by a musical session, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. The programme was brought to a successful close with a spread of evening tea.
