Major General M K U P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG assumed duties as the 24th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) on 12 December 2023 during a simple ceremony, held at the SLAWC Regimental Headquarters, Borella.
Upon the arrival of the newly appointed Colonel Commandant the proceedings were followed by a Guard turn out, Guard of honor and laying of flower wreath to the war heroines monument. Following duties taking over formalities further, the days programme was included an all rank tea, troop address and a conference with the participation of all staff officers of the rc slawc at the conference hall.
At present Major General M K U P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG also holding the appointment as the Commander Security Forces (EAST). He has served a number of other senior key appointments in the capacities of operational, administrative and staff across the country after his enlistment to the Sri Lanka.
