THE INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF ‘OLIVE’ SALON AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE BASIC NEEDS FOR THE PREGNANT FEMALE SOLDIERS OF SLAWC

Distribution of essential basic needs including baby items to all pregnant female soldiers who have completed 05 months pregnancy period while performing duties in the battalions of Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps and Inauguration Ceremony of newly constructed 'Olive' beauty salon, which could be considered as a prevailing requirement that had being dragged up to present since prolong time in the regimental center, was conducted under the supervision of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) on the 08th of May 2023 at the Regimental Centre Borella. The occasion was graced by the presence of Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President ASVU as the chief guest. Mrs. Shyamali Wijesekera President, SLAWC Seva Vanita branch warmly welcomed the day’s chief guest and invited her to distribute gifts packs and unveil a plaque and inaugurated the salon by cutting the ribbon newly constructed salon.

This event was organized by SLAWC Seva Vanitha Branch, RC SLAWC and 1SLAWC with the contribution of all other women battalions under the guidance and instructions given by Major General Darshana Wijesekera Commander Security Forces Mullaitivu and Colonel Commandant of SLAWC and Mrs. Shyamali Wijesekera President of SLAWC Seva Vanitha Branch. Gift packs with essential items worth 11500 rupees were distributed to the 72 pregnant women soldiers working under all the women battalions in the country.

In particular, the 'Olive' beauty salon, which was opened in conjunction with this program, was a project of being instrumental in future development of the history of Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps. The highlight of this salon is that it provides space to fulfill the beauty culture requirements of the lady soldiers and as well as the civilian population at a very affordable price. The President of Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps Seva Vanitha Branch, all members of SLAWC Seva Vanitha Branch, Centre Commandant and all ranks of the Regimental Centre along with members of the regimental council also participated for this event.
