The foundation stone of SLAWC War Heroes Memorial was laid as an auspicious moment with the Buddhist religious activities on 06 July 2023 at the Regimental Center premises in Borella, according to the directions and guidances of Major General U D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps and Commander Security Force Headquarters – East in order to commemorate twenty five women fallen war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation during the operational period in the country, served under the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps and with the noble concept of raising the pride of the regimental center.
The Colonel Commandant, Centre Commandant, all Senior officers, officers and ORs of RC SLAWC along with the Commanding Officer of 1SLAWC participated for this event.
Further, the Colonel Commandant made an official visit to camp premises of Regimental center and 1SLAWC by mostly focusing towards the issues confronted to the Officers and soldiers while they are on duty, subsequently, instructions were issued to rectify them in effective manner to relevant authorities. In addition to that, he deeply discussed regarding future planning process of the organization with the Centre commandant, Grade I officers, Regimental Sargent Major of RC SLAWC .
