Ceremonial Inauguration of Five Storied Office Complex at Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps.

The Opening Ceremony of newly constructed Five Storied Office Complex of Regimental Headquarters of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps was held on 23rd September 2021 and the event was headed by General Shavendra Silva Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of Army.

Chief Guest was greeted with guard turnout at the entrance of the Office Complex and other distinguished invitees including Mrs. Sujeewa Nelson - President Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Major General Priyantha Perera - Chief of Staff and Colonel Commandant of SLAWC , Mrs. Pathma Perera Chairperson of Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps Seva Vanitha Unit were welcomed by Brigadier Chaminda Thibbotuge the Centre Commandant of SLAWC.

After the religious observation, General Shavendra Silva unveiled plaque and declared the opening of new Office Complex by cutting a ribbon. It was noted that the five story building consists of Regimental Headquaters and 1 SLAWC Battalion Headquaters .The office complex with 5 stored building constructed by 6(V) Corps of Engineer Service Regiment and it was made possible within a short span of time due to untiring efforts of Major General Priyantha Perera Colonel Commandant SLAWC, Brigadier Janaka Rathnayake Former Centre Commandant SLAWC, Brigadier Chaminda Thibbotuge the present Centre Commandant SLAWC.

Major General Priyantha Perera, Colonel Commandant of SLAWC and Chief of Staff of Army as the day’s formalities awarded a special momento to the Chief Guest prior to his departure and General Shavendra Silva left a few complimentary remarks in the SLAWC visitors’ Book.

A limited participants with Senior Officers including Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Adjutant General Major General Sujeewa Senerathyapa, Commander Security force West Major General Hirosha Wanigasekara, Master General Ordnance, Director, Senior officers, Commanding Officers of SLAWC and Other Ranks for the day’s proceedings by adhering to strict health guidelines.
