ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY WOMEN’S CORPS SEVA VANITHA BRANCH – 2025

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Seva Vanitha Branch was ceremoniously convened on 19th July 2025 at the Regimental Headquarters in Borella, amidst a dignified and collegial setting that reflected the spirit of unity and dedication to service.

The proceedings were held under the esteemed patronage of Mrs. Sachetha Hewage, President of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps. The occasion was further dignified by the presence of Major General HHKS Shantha Hewage RWP, RSP, USP, psc, rcds, Commandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College and Colonel Commandant of the Regiment. The presence of the President, senior members, and general membership added profound value and inspiration to the event.

The ceremonial commencement was marked by the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, followed by the respectful rendition of the Seva Vanitha anthem and a two-minute silence observed in solemn tribute to the fallen War Heroes.

A key highlight of the AGM was the election of the new Executive Committee, signifying a smooth transition of leadership and reaffirming the Branch’s unwavering commitment to its welfare mandate. The agenda further encompassed a retrospective review of the previous year’s welfare initiatives, strategic discussions on the upcoming welfare calendar for 2025, and an open forum that encouraged the sharing of suggestions and collaborative ideas from members, fostering inclusive planning and participatory decision-making.

In a symbolic act of compassion and service, the President of the Branch presented a wheelchair to the differently-abled father of a serving soldier, underscoring the organization’s enduring commitment to the well-being of military families.

The first session of the AGM featured a value-added segment a comprehensive lecture on Personal Development Management delivered by Dr. (Mrs.) Indumini Bandara, a certified consultant psychologist and SITED trainer. Her address, divided into three impactful modules Mental Development, Personal Hygiene, and Personal Grooming - offered members valuable insights into holistic self-improvement. The session concluded with a rejuvenating wellness workshop conducted by Chandanalepa, which further enriched the day’s learning experience.

The event concluded on a high note with a vibrant entertainment segment and a fellowship lunch, marking the end of a fruitful and inspiring day dedicated to empowerment, unity, and service.
