1 Pioneer Troops Support Conduct of Annual ‘Katina’ Ceremony in Panadura Temple

1Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps troops supported the conduct of the annual ‘Katina Pooja’ ceremony of the Sirinandana Viharaya in Keselwattha, Panadura on Friday (22) and Saturday (23).

Held under the guidance of the Viharadhikari, Ven. Medauyangoda Dhammawimala Thero, a colourful procession brought the ‘Katina Cheevaraya’ before observances got underway. The Dhamma sermon, Bodhi Pooja and the ‘Pooja’, followed by the alms-giving early in the morning and offering of Atapirikara to all Bhikkus marked the culmination of the Pinkama.

Deputy chief of staff Major General KNS Kotuwegoda ndc IG together with State minister Jayantha Samaraweera, 612 Brigade Commander Brigadier KLSS Liyanagama RWP RSP, Major UMP Udukumara - SLLI Commanding Officer 1 Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps and Maj GA Bandula USP Lsc CES, Commanding Officer, 4th Engineer Service Regiment (Vol) and Senior Officers, state officials and devotees.

The arrangement followed health guidelines issued by the Army HQ.
