1 CORPS COMMANDER PAYS OFFICIAL VISIT TO HEADQUARTERS - 58 INFANTRY DIVISION

The Commander 1 Corps Major General PS Subath Sanjeewa RSP nps psc made his first official visit to the 58 Infantry Division in Puttalam on 10 Jan 2026 after assumption of 1 Corps.

During the visit, a formal military ceremony held at the 58 Infantry Division Headquarters Puttalam including a formal drive pass was presented to the Commander 1 Corps at the 58 Infantry Division main entrance by Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops. The Commander 1 Corps was warmly welcomed by Major General AMA Abeyawardana WWV RWP RSP ndc, the General officer Commanding of the 58 Infantry Division, with Deputy General Officer Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Divisional Staff and Commanding Officers.

After conducting a comprehensive briefing of the role and task of 58 Infantry Division to the Commander 1 Corps by the General Officer Commanding 58 Infantry Division, the Commander 1 Corps participated for the tree-planting ceremony, symbolizing his inaugural visit. And also the visit followed by a group photograph with senior officers, officers, and other ranks, marking the significance of the occasion. As part of the visit, the Commander 1 Corps addressed the troops followed by all Ranks tea.
