533 INFANTRY BRIGADE ORGANIZES BOOK DONATION PROGRAMME FOR FLOOD AFFECTED CHILDREN

Under the guidance of the 53 Infantry Division, the 533 Infantry Brigade successfully conducted a Book Donation Programme for children affected by recent floods in the Galnewa, Handungama and Ipalogama general areas. The event was held on a grand scale on 27 December 2025 at the Galnewa Pradeshiya Sabha Auditorium with the generous support of the Old Pupils’ Association of Daranagama Maha Vidyalaya (92 Batch).

The programme was organized with the noble objective of uplifting the educational needs of children who were adversely affected by the floods and to assist them in resuming their studies with renewed confidence. A large number of school children (184 School Children) and their parents (109 Parents) participated in the event, which was marked by enthusiasm and gratitude.

Major General Dulith Perera RWP RSP USP, the Deputy General Officer Commanding of the 53 Infantry Division, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A significant number of school books, bags and educational materials were distributed during the programme. In addition packed meal lunch provided to all participants.
