MAJOR GENERAL J K R JAYAKODY RWP USP ASSUMED DUTIES AS GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING OF THE 58 DIVISION

On 26 September 2024, Major General J K R Jayakody RWP USP ceremoniously assumed duties as 21 General Officer Commanding of the 58 Infantry Division at the Division headquarters in Puttalam Army Camp. The events commenced with a warm reception and formal inspection of Guard Turn out at the entrance of the camp. To mark this significant appointment, the troops of 1st Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment presented the vibrant Guard of Honour to Major General J K R Jayakody RWP USP.

He officially took over his duties with the blessings of Buddhist priest, in the presence of Brigade Commanders, Principle Staff Officers and Commanding Officers. As part of the tradition, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding planted the sapling, symbolizing the lasting memory of this occasion.

In his inaugural address to all ranks, Maj General J K R Jayakody RWP USP underscored the importance of upholding high standards of discipline, professional development and fostering the strong bond between the ranks, which has always been a hallmark of the 58 Infantry Division’s excellence.

Later addressing the officers, General Officer Commanding outlined vision and expectations, emphasizing professionalism, accountability and maintaining exemplary standards of discipline. He further stressed the importance of team work, loyalty and the wellbeing of all under command troops, advocating for balance approached to professional duties and personal life.

This transition marks the new chapter in the 58 Infantry Division continued dedication to duty and excellence under the leadership of Maj General J K R Jayakody RWP USP.
