COMMANDER 1 CORPS VISITS BRIGADES AND BATTALIONS

Major General PGPS Rathnayaka RWP RSP ndc, Commander 1 Corps made his official visits to the under command Brigades and Battalions.

He visited Special Force Brigade and 3 Commando Regiment on 09 Sep 2024. Afterward, Commander 1 Corps arrived to the 2 Commando Regiment on 10 Sep 2024, A pioneer member of 2 Commando Regiment with the inception and he had been working in the same Regiment continuously as a team commander, group commander, OC admin, OC support gp, Ops and trg officer, LRP OC and subsequently LRP Coordinator of both the Regiments. In completing the official visit, on 11 Sep 2024, he visited the 581 Infantry Brigade and the 5th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, which is located at Bellagaswewa, Hambantota.

Commander 1 Corps, was warmly welcomed by the Brigade Commander / Battalion Commanders and honored in a Guard Turnout presented by the troops in accordance with the military formalities at the entrance of their respective headquarters. After that, he was briefed on the deployment, duties, and responsibilities by Brigade commander and Battalion Commanders. Adding to the day programs, Commander 1 Corps planted a sapling on the headquarters premises, posed for group photographs, joined with the All Ranks Tea and addressed troops of each headquarters.

During the troop address, he empathized on harnessing professionalism while preserving the highest standard of discipline when performing duties and briefed to adhere all the SOPs in order to augment the core values of the Army. Moreover, he interacted with the troops and directed the Brigade Commander and the Battalion Commanders to maintain the wellbeing of the soldiers, and also inspected the readiness of the troops along with the equipment of each Battalion.
