COMMANDER 1 CORPS VISITS 58 INFANTRY DIVISION, 583 INFANTRY BRIGADE AND 1ST BATTALION THE GAJABA REGIMENT

Major General PGPS Rathnayaka RWP RSP ndc, Commander 1 Corps made his first official visit to the 58 Infantry Division, 583 Infantry Brigade and 1st Battalion the Gajaba Regiment on 22 July 2024 after assuming office.

Troops of the 58 Infantry Division presented a Guard Turnout on his arrival at the camp premises. Afterwards, Major General CA Rajapasksha RSP, General Officer Commanding of 58 Infantry Division welcomed the Commander 1 Corps and delivered a comprehensive briefing on the functions of the 58 Infantry Division.

Subsequently, Commander 1 Corps planted a sapling inside the camp premises as a token of memory. The Deputy General Officer Commanding delivered the welcome speech. Following this, the Commander 1 Corps addressed the troops, highlighting the importance of maintaining peace and security while upholding the Army's standards through training and discipline.

Finally, the Commander 1 Corps appeared for a group photograph with 58 Infantry Division troops. Before his departure, the Commander 1 Corps left some complimentary notes in the visitors’ book.

Thereafter, the Commander 1 Corps was warmly welcomed by the Commander of 583 Infantry Brigade and Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion the Gajaba Regiment and honoured in a Drive Pass presented by the troops in accordance with the military formalities at the entrance of their respective headquarters. After that, he was briefed on the deployment, duties, and responsibilities by Commander of 583 Infantry Brigade and Commanding Officer of 1 Gajaba Regiment. Adding to the day programs, Commander 1 Corps planted saplings on the headquarters premises, posed for group photographs, joined with the All Ranks Tea and addressed troops of each headquarters.

Moreover, he interacted with the troops and directed the Brigade Commander and Commanding Officer to maintain the wellbeing of the soldiers, and also inspected the readiness of the Riot Control Platoons along with the equipment of each Battalion.
