NEWLY APPOINTED COMMANDER 1 CORPS ASSUMES DUTIES

Major General SUMN Manage WWV RWP RSP psc, assumed the office as the 3rd Commander of 1 Corps on 23 December 2022, amidst traditional military formalities at the Headquarters, 1 Corps at Kilinochchi.

The day’s proceedings commenced with the Guard Turnout presented to new Commander, 1 Corps at the main entrance of Headquarters 1 Corps. Subsequently he was warmly welcomed by the Brigadier General Staff 1 Corps, Brigadier WSK Liyanawaduge RSP and accompanied to take up the salute of the Guard of Honour, presented by his mother regiment, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

Thereafter, amid religious rites and rituals, followed by the ‘Seth Pirith’ chanting by the Maha Sangha, Major General SUMN Manage WWV RWP RSP psc assumed his new office by placing the signature symbolically on an official document at the auspicious minute.

Later, the Commander 1 Corps posed for group photograph with the General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and Staff Officers of 1 Corps Headquarters before planted a sapling at the Headquarters premises.

Thereafter Commander 1 Corps educated his officers and other ranks in respect of duties and responsibilities lays on them during the troops address. As the day’s final showcase, the Commander 1 Corps attended an all-rank tea at the Corporals’ Club, Headquarters 1 Corps.
