OUTGOING COMMANDER 1 CORPS HONOURED

Major General Harendra Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndc MPhil, the 1st Commander of 1 Corps relinquished the duties on 12 March 2022 during a formal military ceremony, held at the Headquarters 1 Corps, Kilinochchi.

The outgoing Commander reviewed a Guard Turnout presented at the entrance to the Headquarters 1 Corps. After, he was awarded with a Guard of Honour parade presented by 5 Gemunu Watch troops at the Headquarters’ parade ground.

Thereafter, the outgoing Commander placed his signature in the Visitors’ Book leaving memories as the Commander 1 Corps. Outgoing Commander posed for few group photographs with the General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers under command to the 1 Corps, Staff Officers and Other Ranks.

Subsequently, outgoing Corps Commander addressed the troops at the "Nelumpiyasa" Multifunctional Hall and shared important events of his 35 years long illustrated career and thanked all ranks for the support they extended during his tenure and urged them to continue their commitment in same spirit whilst safeguarding the reputation of the organization. The event was followed by presenting a memento by the Brigadier General Staff of 1 Corps. All General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks were present at the military formalities. Finally, the Commander attended an all-rank tea at the same venue. The event was held with strict adherence to the health guidelines and regulations.
