74th NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS AT HEADQUARTERS 1 CORPS

A programme to celebrate 74th National Independence Day with the participation of all Officers and other ranks was held at the Headquarters 1 Corps at Kilinochchi. On behalf of the Commander 1 Corps, the national flag and corps flag was hoisted by the Brigadier General Staff of Headquarters 1 Corps, Brigadier Chandimal Peris RWP RSP ndc and Brigadier Admin & Quartering Brigadier Asela Amarasekara USP respectively. Then, two-minute silence was observed to remember all fallen war heroes who scarified their lives for the noble cause of defending the freedom, unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Mother Sri Lanka.

Further, Independence Day massage was delivered by the Brigadier Admin & Quartering of the Headquarters 1 Corps. Then all troops attended to witness the Independence Day ceremony live telecasting at the auditorium. Later, with a tree planting programme day’s events came to an end.
