COMMANDER OF THE ARMY VISITS HQ 1 CORPS AND EXTENDS HIS SEASONAL NEW YEAR GREETINGS TO ALL RANKS

General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army, and Head of the Green Agriculture Operation Center made a formal visit to HQ 1 Corps and addressed the troops of 1 Corps on 29 December 2021 at "Nelum Piyasa" in Kilinochchi to extends his seasonal greetings for the coming New Year.

On his arrival, the Commander of the Army was warmly welcomed by Major General Harendra Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndc, Commander of 1 Corps, and the Commander of the Army was accorded with a ceremonial drive-pass, presented by 3 GR troops.

Prior to the troops address, Commander of the Army had a brief discussion with Commander 1 Corps at his office. During the troops address the Commander of the Army thanked the Commander 1 Corps and all ranks of 1 Corps for organizing the event and noted that the dedication of all ranks for national security concerns as a professional Army is commendable. He claimed that the support being given to eradicate drug menace and other anti-social activities from our soil has received commendation from all quarters. Also, he apprised the contribution of the Army in accomplishment of development-oriented projects such as construction of school buildings, playgrounds, public grounds, public places, tanks, overhead bridges, etc considering hardships of underprivileged schools and their infrastructure as set out in the Presidential policy.
