PROVIDING LABOUR CONTRIBUTION FOR THE RENOVATION OF A KANDAYAYA TEMPLE

On the instructions of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc Mphil and under the guidance of General Officer Commanding 58 Infantry Division Major General SRB Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc with the request by the Chief Incumbent of the Sri Meththarama Kandayaya temple in Kandayaya, Kottukachchiya Venerable Diyadora Meththananda, Army troops were started to repair the Alms Hall and the dilapidated front earthen wall around the Alms Hall. With effect from 27 February 2022 for the four great monks, a 105 feet long and 08 high wall were erected around the temple premises. The construction of a stair case, renovation and remodelling of the celling in side and the repainting of pagoda were conducted by troops of 58 Infantry Division in a short period of 19 days.

This renovated temple was ceremonially dedicated to great Gauthama Sambuddha Sasana with the participation of General Officer Commanding 58 Infantry Division, Officers and other ranks on 17 March 2022 Medin full moon Poya day.
