Major General WMPM Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndc, the newly appointed Commander of 1 Corps, conducted his official visit to the 583 Infantry Brigade on 21 April 2025. The visit marked a significant moment, emphasizing leadership engagement and operational readiness within the formation.
The General Officer Commanding of the 58 Division also participated in the visit. The itinerary commenced with a formal Guard Turnout, followed by a comprehensive briefing by the Brigade Commander. Following the briefing, group photograph was taken to commemorate the occasion. An All Ranks tea session provided an opportunity for interaction with troops, after which the Commander addressed the soldiers, emphasizing professionalism, discipline, and dedication. Then camp visit was took place, observing ongoing activities and facilities.
The visit concluded with a lunch held at the Officers’ Mess, further strengthening camaraderie among the leadership and officers. Before departing, Commander, 1 Corps signed the Visitors' Book, leaving his remarks and best wishes for the continued success of the brigade.
