NEW GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING OF 58 INFANTRY DIVISION (RSF) ASSUMES OFFICE

Major General CA Rajapasksha RSP of the Gemunu Watch assumed office as the 20th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 58 Infantry Division (RSF) during a simple ceremony, amidst religious observances and military formalities on Saturday (11 May) at the Headquarter 58 Infantry Division (RSF), Puttalam.

The newly appointed GOC of the 58 Infantry Division (RSF) was warmly welcomed by Brigadier TMF Kichilan RWP RSP the Deputy General Officer Commanding and Staff Officers on his arrival and honored in a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour presented by the troops of 1st Battalion the Gemunu Watch.

Afterwards, the new GOC was invited to the office and placed his signature in an official document to mark the assumption of his duties, amidst 'Seth Pirith' chanting of the Maha Sanga. Subsequently, the new GOC addressed all the Officers and Other Ranks serving under the 58 Infantry Division (RSF) and briefed his plan of action in the days to come.

Later on, a ‘Mango Sapling’ was planted in the Headquarters premises by GOC to mark the event and joined the All Rank Tea with Divisions’ staff.

Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the Headquarters - 58 Infantry Division (RSF), Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Rankers were presented during the day's event.
