New General Officer Commanding of 58 Infantry Division Assumes Office

Major General PKWWMJSBW Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc of the Gajaba Ragiment assumed office as the 22th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 58 Infantry Division during a simple ceremony, amidst religious observances and military formalities on Saturday Friday (18 April) at the Headquarter 58 Infantry Division, Puttalam.

The newly appointed GOC of the 58 Infantry Division was warmly welcomed by Brigadier KMCS Kumarasinha the Deputy General Officer Commanding and Staff Officers on his arrival and according him a Guard Turnout by 21 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Ragiment and Guard of Honour by the troops of 1st Battalion the Sri Lanka Sinha Ragiment.

Afterwards, the new GOC was invited to the office and placed his signature in an official document to mark the assumption of his duties, amidst 'Seth Pirith' chanting of the Maha Sanga. Subsequently, GOC was invited to plant a ‘Mango Sapling’ in the Headquarters premises.

Later on, the new GOC addressed all the Officers and Other Ranks serving under the 58 Infantry Division and briefed his plan of action in the days to come and after he joined the All Rank Tea with Divisions staff.

Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the Headquarters - 58 Infantry Division, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Rankers were present during the day's event.
