MORE ELEGANT DECORATIONS ADDED TO ‘VESAK’ SPLENDOUR

Major General SB Amunugama RWP RSP ndu, Commander 1 Corps, inaugurated the Vesak Zone, in Iranamadu organized by the Headquarters 1 Corps with the participation of under command Units from 23 May to 25 May 2024.

The Vesak program included various events organized by the 1 Corps troops. During the inauguration, the Commander 1 Corps switched on the lights to mark the start of the Vesak program and inaugurated the ‘Dansala’ which offered Rice and curry for more than 6000 civilians in Iranamadu and Killinochchi areas. Headquarters 1 Corps with the support of troops serving all Units decorated the entire Iranamadu premises with colourful Vesak lanterns and bulbs. Meanwhile, screening a ‘Bethi Gee’, showcasing the spirits of reconciliation, harmony and co-existence.

Religious Leaders of Kilinochichi Area, Government Officials, Tri- Forces Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and a large crowd of civilians took part in the event. Additionally, Commander 1 Corps had a friendly conversation with the local enthusiasts who had come to visit the Vesak program.
