MORE ELEGANT DECORATIONS ADDED TO ‘VESAK’ SPLENDOUR

Major General Nishantha Manage WWV RWP RSP psc, Director General General Staff (DGGS) and Commander 1 Corps, inaugurated the Vesak Zone, in Kilinochchi organized by the Headquarters 1 Corps with the participation of under command Divisions, Brigades and Units from 05 May to 07 May 2023.

The Vesak program included various events organized by the 1 Corps troops. During the inauguration, the Commander 1 Corps switched on the lights to mark the start of the Vesak program and inaugurated the ‘Dansala’ which offered Rice and curry for more than 6000 civilians in Iranamadu and Killinochchi Areas.

Venarable Pimbure Dharmadewa Thera also attended the inauguration ceremony and Commander 1 Corps and all officers and troops received blessings from Venerable Pimbure Dharmadewa Thera, the Chief Incumbent of Kengalla Temple.

Many thousand civilians, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the opening ceremony of the 1 Corps Vesak Zone. The winners of the Vesak lanterns competition, organized by the 1 Corps were given prizes at the end of the programme.

Additionally, Commander 1 Corps had a friendly conversation with the local enthusiasts who had come to visit the Vesak program.
