FOURTH COMMANDER OF 1 CORPS RELINQUISHED THE OFFICE

Major General SB Amunugama RWP RSP ndu, the 4th Commander of 1 Corps relinquished his duties upon his retirement on 05 July 2024 during a formal military ceremony, held at the Headquarters 1 Corps, Kilinochchi.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the outgoing Commander received a Guard Turnout presented by troops of 3 Gajaba Regiment at the entrance of the Headquarters 1 Corps before he awarded with a Ceremonial Parade by 07 officers and 127 other ranks of 53 Infantry Division, 58 Infantry Division, Air Mobile Brigade, Commando Brigade and Special Forces Brigade, as per Army tradition.

Subsequently, he addressed the troops of 1 Corps and paid the gratitude to all for the support they extended during his tenure and urged them to continue their commitment in same spirit for the benefit and the reputation of the organization.

Then he delivered the official handing-over documents at the office premises. Thereafter, the Outgoing Commander posed for group photograph with the General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and Staff Officers and other rankers of 1 Corps.

Before relinquish the office formally he attended for All Ranks tea with General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers and other rankers of 1 Corps at the Corporals’ Club, Headquarters 1 Corps.
