58 Infantry Division bid farewell to its 19th General Officer Commanding Major General HDWKN Eriyagama RWP RSP on 27 April 2024. The 58 Infantry Division has received a big salute on his retirement at the end of more than 35 years of active service as the iconic feature of the Sri Lanka Army as well as 58 Infantry Divisional histories.
The days’ programme commenced with the arrival on Major General HDWKN Eriyagama RWP RSP and he was welcomed by the Brigadier TMF Kichilan RWP RSP the Deputy General Officer Commanding of 58 Infantry Division following a Guard Turnout. The Colorful Parade was reviewed by the outgoing GOC accompanied by the Parade Commander together with Deputy GOC in accordance with military traditions. Troop Adress followed by all Rank Tea culminated the day’s 1st stage proceedings.
The day's event also textured with the Farewell Dinner hosted in honour of the outgoing General Officer Commanding by all Officers at the 58 Infantry Division Officers’ Mess.
Following day at the end of the events, the outgoing General Officer Commanding was awarded a street lining farewell bids ‘Jaya Sri” by officers and other ranks of the 58 Infantry Division.
