Brigadier (Dr) KGKH Wijewardane RSP USP, Director Army Medical Services, conducted an official visit to the Army Base Hospital in Kilinochchi on 22 November 2024 to review its operational aspects and receive updates on its current functionality.
Upon arrival, the Director was honoured with a drive pass and formally welcomed by Major (Dr) Chandima Jayasinghe, the Officer Commanding of the Army Base Hospital - Kilinochchi. The Officer Commanding provided a detailed briefing on the hospital’s services and facilities, highlighting its efforts to deliver quality care to Army personnel and their families.
The Director toured the hospital premises, inspecting key operational areas, including the OPD and ETU services, the dental section, X-Ray department, laboratory, outdoor pharmacy, and the ward complex with its five wards. The hospital, which has a capacity of 45 beds, is dedicated to serving Army personnel and their dependents, ensuring access to efficient healthcare services.
The visit was accompanied by two senior officers of Directorate of Army Medical Services, Lt Col PHA Rupasinghe, SO1 (Admin) and Maj (Dr) HDGWADU Bandara USP, SO2 (Medical-Additional), alongside other Officers, and Other Ranks.
Following the tour, the Director joined for a tea at Officers' Mess and left a message in the visitors’ book, commending the efforts of the hospital staff in maintaining high standards of medical care and operational readiness.
