COMMADER 582 INFANTRY BRIGADE ASSUMIN DUTIES

Brigadier L D Perera RWP RSP USP, assumed the office as the 16th Commander of 582 Infantry Brigade on 11 April 2025, amidst traditional military formalities at the 582 Infantry Brigade Headquarters at Horana.

The day’s proceeding commenced with the Guard Turnout presented to new Brigade Commander at the main entrance of the 582 Infantry Brigade Headquarters. Subsequently, he was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers of Headquarters 582 Infantry Brigade, CO - 1 SLLI and CO - 21 SLSR.

Thereafter, amid religious rites and rituals, followed by the “Seth Pirith” chanting by Maha Sangha, Brigadier L D Perera RWP RSP USP assumed his new office by placing the signature symbolically on an official document at the auspicious minute.

Afterwards according to the agenda the Brigade Commander planted a sapling and pose for group photograph with Commanding Officers, Staff officers and all ranks of 582 Infantry Brigade. The event was concluded by providing an opportunity for the newly appointed Brigade Commander to address the troops directly. The ceremony culminated with all Ranks tea which marked the reception of the new Brigade Commander.
